Movers in Augusta

Relocating your home or business can sometimes seem overwhelming. With everything that has to be done and prepared, it’s important to find ways to keep your move in Augusta as organized and stress-free as possible.

ALS Van Lines have shared 5 helpful tips to make moving just a little bit easier.

1. Take photos of all cords and electronics.

There are few things more frustrating than trying to unpack all of your things and not remembering which cords go where—and to what item. Take pictures of how all of your major electronics are set up (TV, cable box, surround sound, etc.) and how the cords are arranged to minimize confusion. If you are removing many different cords or electronic components, store them in separate, clear plastic bags with labels to make setting everything back up a breeze.

2.  Pack with “boxes” you already have.

The fastest and easiest way to pack many of your belongings is to make use of any potential packing “boxes” you may already own. These can include suitcases, laundry bins, baskets and other storage containers that can serve as a sturdy container to transport your items in.

3.  Stock up on supplies.

When it comes to moving, you always want to be as prepared as possible. Before beginning your packing process, be sure and stock up on all the necessary supplies you think you’ll need (tape, boxes, bubble wrap, markers, etc.)—plus extras. It’s a lot less stressful to end up having a few extra rolls of packing tape than to have to run out and find some at the last minute. Speaking of tape…

4.  Use colored tape.

Using multiple colors of tape can make organizing and packing a lot more organized. Consider using a color-coding system, or designating a different color or type of tape to label boxes for each room in your new home. That way, it’s easy for movers and family to take one glance at a box and know exactly where it should go.

5.  Number your boxes.

Make sure that you arrive at your new home with all of your belongings by numbering each box you pack. You can choose to number them based on the room—“Kitchen, box 1 of 8,” for example—or simply number them as you pack and keep an inventory of which box goes where. No matter how you decide to label your boxes, keeping a detailed list helps make sure nothing goes missing or is forgotten.
